Which windows to choose for an office building – an overview of solutions

10.09.2024

Arrange your office already at the construction stage. Choose the right windows and plan their layout. Window joinery affects the aesthetics of the building, work comfort and energy efficiency.

Which is worth opting for? It depends on the nature of the office and its users – different types of window will meet different requirements. What will be most important from the perspective of your office?

Creative space – windows into the offices of startups and creative agencies

Who thinks of window selection in terms of fostering creativity? Maybe it’s time to start – especially if you’re furnishing an office geared towards creative work. Appreciate the role that daylight streaming into your space can play.

Large glazings and aluminium windows with narrow profiles in this respect will be the best solution. Maximum interior light in a natural way – no problem. Decide on the right window system.

Aluminium, as an extremely strong material, allows the creation of windows with larger dimensions. This will be of particular importance in spaces where light is intended to support a creative atmosphere.

It is also worth paying attention to the insulation performance of windows. Although large glazings may seem less thermally efficient, modern technologies – thermal breaks in aluminium profiles or low-emission coatings on the glazing – will significantly improve the insulation performance of the entire window model. As a result, even in spaces with large windows, it is possible to maintain the right temperature and humidity without increasing the cost of heating or air-conditioning rooms.

Corporate offices – comfort and energy efficiency

In corporate buildings, window joinery usually occupies a much larger area than full walls. So what will count most when buying the right window models? In this case, we can talk about a kind of cost-effectiveness, especially from a long-term savings perspective. Are you aware that choosing the right windows directly affects the energy balance?

PVC windows – a good choice due to their high energy efficiency and attractive value for money. The multi-chambered PVC profiles with EPDM gaskets provide excellent thermal insulation which, over time, translates into lower everyday office running costs.

When choosing windows for corporate offices, it is worth considering the heat transfer coefficient (Uw) in detail. A lower Uw coefficient means better insulation. In the case of modern UPVC windows, Uw values below 1.0 W/m²K can be achieved.

The acoustic properties of windows are also an important aspect in the office. In buildings located in city centres, aluminium and UPVC windows with double or triple glazing effectively reduce external noise. This creates a quiet and comfortable working space.

Coworking offices – flexibility and ergonomics

Coworking spaces require more than just good technical performance from their windows. Where flexibility and the ability to adapt the space quickly are important, sliding window systems are the ideal and most frequently chosen solution. This option facilitates the planning of the office layout.

Coworking spaces also often pay more attention to the aesthetics of the chosen models – they must attract users not only with their functionality, but also with their appearance. Aluminium windows with thin profiles provide maximum light and a modern look, and are therefore ideal for this type of interior.

In addition, sliding windows can create unique spatial solutions. In the design of office spaces, they are often used to connect workspaces with terraces or balconies. A more dynamic workspace? A great solution!

Offices in historic buildings – aesthetics combined with modernity

For offices located in buildings with historic value, choosing the right windows becomes a little more challenging. Character needs to be preserved while incorporating modern technology that meets contemporary energy standards. Aluminium windows, thanks to their flexibility in adapting to a variety of designs, can be integrated into the facades of buildings without compromising their original appearance.

Special aluminium systems that mimic the appearance of traditional windows are increasingly being used in the renovation of historic buildings. Aluminium profiles can be freely shaped – this allows architectural details to be recreated, while introducing modern thermal and acoustic insulation solutions. Interested in a particular finish? Windows of the future – innovative solutions for office construction

The technologies used in modern windows are constantly evolving. More and more advanced solutions are appearing on the market every year.

An excellent example of this is the currently very popular windows with electrochromic technology, which automatically adjust the level of darkness according to external conditions. Such solutions can be particularly useful in offices.

Innovative windows integrated with building management systems allow automatic control of opening levels, ventilation and temperature regulation. Often used, the system can also be integrated with other elements of the structure’s infrastructure – lighting or air conditioning – optimising energy consumption and ensuring the comfort of all office employees.

Today’s offices are not only workplaces, but also spaces that are meant to inspire and support growth – the right windows can make a significant contribution to achieving precisely these goals.
